If you have some experience in making a placebo for a tea trial (more precisely: making another liquid looking, smelling and tasting the same, but without biological activity), could you please send your solution (or the reference of it) ?
We are trying to design such a placebo for a diabetes study and face great difficulties in making a tea with guaranteed no activity on sugar metabolism.
Thanks a lot!

Generally speaking placebos are impractical in herbal medicine because often the phyto-chemicals that give the characteristic taste and smell are the active components. I am conducting a clinical study with a crude herb formulation in which I opted to use a crossover design instead of a placebo control.
